Who will be Batman’s new girl?

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed a short list of five actresses as favorites for Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” the third and supposedly final installment of his widely successful Batman franchise. There will be two ladies fighting for Batman’s attention. One is a lover and the other is a villain. But with the multi-layered aspects of all previous characters, we never know which is which until we see the actual film and take part in Batman’s on-screen journey.

According to THR, the five actresses who made the list are: Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Beil, Kate Mara and Charlotte Riley.

It looks like Riley may have the upper hand at getting the role, since she is engaged to Tom Hardy who was previously cast in “The Dark Knight Rises.”

One of the roles up for grabs is the role of Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul played by Liam Neeson in “Batman Begins.” A frequent lover of Batman’s and the eventual mother of his child, Talia is not just a sexy heartbreaker but as tough and as dangerous as her father. Let’s dance Batman.

The other role, simply known as “a love interest,” was believed to be the Catwoman. But the well-kept secrets in Nolan’s creative vault will always keep us on the edge of our seats until revealed on the big screen. So, until then, we’ll wait.
