*WARNING* SPOILER alert — The executive producer of The Vampire Diaries, Julie Plec has revealed interesting details about vilain vampire Katherine’s storyline this season. In an interview with TV Guide, Plec explained that Katherine may start some trouble in Elena and Stefan’s relationship.
“She sets her sights on basically making sure that the Stefan and Elena love story hits a snag,” she said. “It’s going to be fun seeing Stefan and Katherine come up against each other. Obviously it’s fun to see Damon and Katherine because there’s a lot of history there too, but the triangle becomes the square.”
That’s not all the drama unfolding at Mystic Falls, as Plec also revealed that Damon and Stefan realize Katherine’s true identity in the upcoming season. “Damon realizes he was duped, and Stefan comes face-to-face with Katherine,” she explained. “The fun of it is how Stefan responds to the moment, as opposed to how Damon responded to the moment.”
The new season of The Vampire Diaries returns on September 9 on The CW.
