The Governator stops welfare card (ab)use at psychics shops.

I know…, I had to read that twice too.

The Governator maybe on his way out, but he is making a few good moves, and talking some sense to this whacky state we all love to live in.

L.A. Times reports that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger sent a letter to county welfare directors, on Monday, announcing that ATMs and point-of-sale card reading machines will be removed from businesses such as: medical marijuana shops, psychic shops, and businesses whose services are “inconsistent with the intent” of the program. Did your psychic see that coming?

Machines will be removed from the networks that accept California’s Electronic Benefits Transfer cards. Welfare recipients can no longer use state-issued debit cards at such establishments.

Other businesses getting slapped by the ban include bail bond establishments, bingo halls, cruise ships and tattoo parlors. So, no more spending that lunch money on re-touching your old tatts.

In June, Schwarzenegger barred welfare cards at casino ATMs following a Times report that CalWORKS cards were being used to withdraw cash in state casinos.

In short, if you abused your welfare trying your luck at the tables, you’re now Sh*t outta luck!
