By Benjamin Scuglia — In 2010, handsome newcomer Shawn Roberts was bumped up the celebrity-fame ladder in Hollywood thanks to a supporting role in “Edge of Darkness” starring Mel Gibson, as well as a villainous turn in “Resident Evil: Afterlife.” VIDEO HERE
This square-jawed Canadian was born April 2, 1984 in Stratford, Ontario and began appearing onscreen as a child actor in such Canadian television shows as “Sirens,” “Emily of New Moon” and “Goosebumps.”
He has worked steadily ever since, earning his bones with bit parts and supporting roles in such U.S and homegrown series as “The Famous Jett Jackson,” “Earth: Final Conflict,” “La Femme Nikita” and “Degrassi: The Next Generation.”
More recently, Roberts turned up on the TV shows “Psych” and “Supernatural.” His film work includes small roles in “Skinwalkers,” “Cheaper by the Dozen 2,””Diary of the Dead” and “I Love You, Beth Cooper.”
In “Resident Evil: Afterlife” he was the bad guy making life—so to speak—very difficult for the zombie-battling heroine played by Mila Jovovich. And in “Edge of Darkness,” Roberts took on his highest-profile project to date. The dark thriller was directed by Martin Campbell (“GoldenEye,” “Casino Royale”) with Gibson as a homicide cop who uncovers a government conspiracy as he seeks to avenge his daughter’s death (Roberts played her boyfriend).
Next up: A starring role in a post-apocalyptic indie thriller titled “The Riot.” A bit of trivia: Roberts’ profile has received an additional boost thanks to hunk-tastic print advertisements for G-Shock watches.
