Aah, who can handle all that compliment?
The Razzies were announced today, and once a year they really tell Hollywood and its ‘filmmakers’ (and we are using the term loosely) what they really think about the crap they put out and the insane amount of money they pocketed from an audience that put their trust into their show-biz expertise.
Twilight Saga: Eclipse; gets 9 enthusiastic bites at the spray-painted gold Razzie. All three of the lead actors of Eclipse are individually nominated for their ‘acting,’ and the entire cast is also up for Worst Screen Ensemble.
A repeat offender is director M. Night Shyamalan and his “re-imagined” (whatever), The Last Airbender , which the Razzies call a “jumbled, jump-cut mess of a movie that fans of the TV show hated even more than critics did (if that’s even possible!).” In addition to Worst Director and Worst Picture, Airbender is up for Worst Remake, Worst Screenplay, Worst Screen Couple/Ensemble (the entire cast).
This year, a brand-new RAZZIE®category was announced for Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3-D, with “Cats and Dogs 3D: revenge of Kitty Galore”, “Clash of the Titans,” and you guessed it “The Last Airbender,” leading the pack.
Other notable nominees include a list of favorite (and old) divas: Cher, Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand all sorta’ asking for it, to be in the Worst Supporting Actress, that is; in addition to tweeny contenders Miley Cyrus, nominated for Worst Actress, and Jack Black, Gerard Butler and Ashton Kutcher up against Twilight’s Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson for Worst Actor.
Oh, the love is in the air. The “winners” will be announced at the award ceremony at Hollywood’s Barnsdall Gallery Theatre at 7:30 pm/PST on Saturday, February 26.
