”Precious,” based on the gripping novel “Push” by Sapphire, is the story of Clareece “Precious” Jones an overweight, illiterate African-American teenager’s life struggling in Harlem, abused by her family and about to give birth to her second child, when she is accepted into an alternative school where a teacher guides her in finding a new path in her life.
The film has Oscar buzz all around it and with big names like Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry as producers, and superstar Mariah Carrey starring in an un-glammed role adding to the attention.
