Actress, author, and now pantomime star Pamela Anderson was rushing to get herself across the pond, just a few days ago. The “VIP” star is set to take to the stage in the land of theatre, England, where she will play the role of Genie in “Aladdin,” a Christmas holiday spectacular, at the Liverpool Empire in Liverpool, from Dec 10 to Jan 2, 2011.
A host of Britain’s TV celebs such as Les Dennis as Wishy Washy, Mark Moraghan (Holby City, Celebrity Masterchef) as Abanazar, and Dani Rayner (BBC One’s “Over The rainbow” finalist) as Princess Jasmine will co-stars along side the former Baywatch beauty. Newcomer Marc Mulcahey will play Aladdin.
Sources close to VIP Pam told BNH she was quite excited to be involved with the Liverpool panto: “I’m working hard, very excited to go to Liverpool, and I need to learn the words to the song ‘Genie in the bottle’ [by Christina Aguilera] but it’s going to be lots of fun.” She expressed, as she made her way to LAX airport. What may she miss from her home during the holidays? “My children. They are not coming with me, and I will miss them terribly.” Explained the working mother of two.
The 43-year-old actress is not new to the world of pantomime. The new engagement is a return of sorts following her major success appearing in the same role at the New Wimbledon Theatre, during Christmas 2009/10.
During the show the wish granting Genie, played by Pamela, will be sitting inside a shiny hoop and lowered down to the stage, making wished come true.
For the live performance Pam said she would be wearing a costume designed by “dear friend, and awards winning designer Vivienne Westwood” especially for her.
