Warner Brothers announced today: British actor, Henry Cavill is their new Superman in the series reboot by director Zack Snyder which will be produced by Christopher Nolan. Cavill is best known for his role as Charles Brandon in The Tudors on Showtime.
Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill (born May 5, 1983), on the island of Jersey, in the Channel Islands, located between southern Great Britain and Northern France. He is 6’1″ tall, has a good ear for picking up languages, and it’s been said that he was Stephanie Meyer’s first choice to play Edward for the “Twilight” movies.
Cavill came very close to playing the man of steel once before, when he was cast in director McG’s “Man of Steel.” That was before ‘Superman Returns’ which ended up starring Brandon Routh, directed by Bryan Singer. Cavill almost landed the role of Batman too in Christopher Nolan’s franchise, but he lost out on that role to actor Christian Bale.
Well, if good things come to the ones who wait, then this must be it. We can’t have too much of Superman, be it on the silver screen, or at home, on the TV set.
