Mel Gibson’s cameo in “The Hangover 2” as a tattoo artist is not going to happen.
Reported earlier by the New York Post, the news of Gibson’s making a cameo was confirmed Tuesday by an anonymous insider close to the production. Warner Bros., which is distributing the film, declined to comment about the news.
However today, Warner Bros., Legendary Pictures and the film’s director Todd Phillips officially confirmed that Gibson will not join the cast for the sequel.
Phillips stated: “I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of [WB president] Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”
“The Hangover 2” follows the characters of the first film on a trip to Southeast Asia for a wedding. The first “Hangover” grossed $462 million worldwide at the box office.
