In the early 1980s Duran Duran single-handedly transformed what was almost a series of experimental type film clips of their band and other artistic footage, combined and edited to the catchy new music of their band and transformed this new marketing idea into a music marketing power tool called the “music video.” With exotic locations, beautiful girls and stunning special-effects, Duran Duran became the trend-setting pioneers and the bar-raising standard in the music video market. Duran’s youthful energy, good looks, fashion sense, and best of all, their music, catapulted them into musical and pop culture giants. From the controversial video for Girls on Film, which was so risqué it was banned, to one of the most expensive music clips ever made, for Wild Boys, the band have always been at the forefront of the music video revolution.
