Disney is full steam ahead with a new movie musical based on the novel “Lemonade Mouth” which centers on a group of teens who meet in detention and form a garage band. The script was written by April Blair who wrote that Jessica Simpson hit “Major Movie Star” in 2008. I was actually being sarcastic, as that particular slice of Simpson cinema was, as you can imagine, a major floppster. April also penned the upcoming film Monte Carlo” with Disney fav Selena Gomez. Studio heads say “Lemonade” will start on the Disney Channel next year and hope it makes its way to big screen fame shortly thereafter. The house of mouse is naturally looking for another blockbuster similar to the “High School Musical” franchise. In Disney’s favor – “The Princess Diaries” producer Debra Martin has been tapped to produce. The year 2009 wasn’t smokin’ for the studio in terms of developing televised films but they’re wishing upon a star that “Lemonade Mouth” doesn’t turn sour. They also have another TV flick with big screen dreams coming out in September – “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.”
