Oscar-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim will not direct boy-toy pop sensation Justin Bieber in his movie debut. You might remember Guggenheim picked up an Academy Award several years back for Al Gore’s global-warming doc “An Inconvenient Truth.” Paramount Pictures only recently announced they’d inked the Biebster to a biopic in which he play himself and perform some of his hit songs, and that the respected Guggenheim would likely steer the ship. It will be shot in 3D, of course, and a release date is already set: February 11, 2011, Valentine’s Day (awwww…) That is barely six months away, so Paramount better get cracking if they want don’t want to break millions of tween and teen-girl hearts. Notes Mike Fleming of the showbiz trade website Deadline.com/Hollywood, “I wonder if Guggenheim might have gotten too much razzing from all of his documentary peers who did spit takes when [we] revealed Guggenheim was signing on.” Bieber also just signed a mega-deal to pen his autobiography (“We’re all waiting breathlessly for the sequel,” snarks Deadline.com. ” ‘Justin Bieber, Puberty: The Testicles Descend.’ “)
