Jeremy Renner’s on a new ‘Mission’

OK, time for some dude news now. Jeremy Renner, the star of the Oscar winning movie “The Hurt Locker,” has been recruited for a Mission, shall he choose to accept it (and he has). The actor will star opposite Tom Cruise in “Mission: Impossible 4,” Paramount Pictures confirmed to Access Hollywood. “It’s a done deal,” the studio told Access on Thursday.

It was in July, when a post on Cruise’s Twitter page confirmed the return of Ethan Hunt as the super-spy for the fourth installment of the franchise. We pray Ethan Hunt will keep the M.I. crew and not be all solo throughout the entire film. No word on what role Renner will be playing just yet.

Production is slated for the fall with JJ Abrams once again on board (thank you, gods of Hollywood) as producer and Brad Bird directing. It’s set for a December 2011 release.
