The New Year begins with Aussie actor, Jacob Elordi, continuing his career- building streak that finished 2023 with a bang in showy roles as Elvis in Sofia Coppola’s PRISCILLA and uber-rich narcissist, Felix, in the surprise indie hit SALTBURN, written and directed by Emerald Fennell. Elordi just landed the title role in Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming “Frankenstein” opposite Oscar Isaac. Elordi takes over the part from Andrew Garfield who had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts from the actors’ strike.
With career-building roles, rising star, Jacob Elordi (age 27) will soon be seen as an A-list Hollywood commodity.
It wasn’t too long ago that Elordi, 27, was just a shirtless hunk in Netflix’s tween dream trilogy, THE KISSING BOOTH. The 6’5″ actor leveraged his assets again in the moody, dark EUPHORIA which had the same career-launching moves of say, SKINS, for Nicholas Hoult a decade earlier?
What’s interesting about Elordi scoring the part of Frankenstein is that he must have clearly impressed Del Toro. Garfield is 14 years older than Elordi so these are two actors one wouldn’t expect to be going for the same part. It hints that Elordi is working hard to find more mature roles to distance himself from playing teen hunks before he hits 30.
Next up for Elordi is a new Paul Schrader project, OH, CANADA, opposite Richard Gere and Uma Thurman. You can see Elordi hosting SNL on January 20 and in the just released on VOD true crime drama HE WENT THAT WAY, opposite Zachary Quinto.
