…which is sure to be a line in the upcoming high school reunion film “10 Years;” starring Channing Tatum and Rosario Dawson and the usual cast of suspect talent; consisting of Scott Porter, Kate Mara, Max Minghella, Anthony Mackie, Oscar Issac and Lynn Collins. (NOTE TO HOLLYWOOD: If you’re going to do a high school reunion flick starring the cast of “Welcome Back Kotter”—act fast before there is no “ex-high school,” Hedgehog cast left (RIP: the great Ron Paulillo and Robert Hegyes).
The story behind “10 Years” might be even better than the film itself! It seems that while on the set of the Nicholas Sparks’ sappy tear jerker “Dear John,” Channing Tatum, Scott Porter and the film’s screenwriter, Jamie Linden shared that Porter and Linden were high school buds and that they just got back from their 10 year reunion.
And…voila!
Before you can say “green-light-this-ex-high school-chums-reunion-cliché-concept,” the film was good to go before the cameras and will be out for all to judge on September 14th. Mr. Tatum and Ms. Dawson play ex-high school sweethearts who haven’t seen each other for years. Hopefully, by the end of the movie, the movie-goer won’t think: “I wish they had never seen each other!”
And—knowing how the wheels of Hollywood turn, if the film does well, here comes “20 Years” (with John Cusack reprising his “high school reunion role” in “Grosse Point Blank?), then “30 Years” until… “No Years.”
