On January 31, 2011, Sony Music will be reissuing George Michael’s iconic album, Faith, remastered. It will be available in multiple special formats including Limited Edition Numbered Collectors Box Set. Sure he has had his recent troubles with the law, but one can’t ignore the genius in the man and the incredible talent still brewing in the artist.
Originally released in 1987, George Michael’s debut solo album quickly became a pop world sensation. It remains a high point in pop music, the artist, and his bold attempt to cross over genres. It’s a practice more familiar nowadays, for country, hip-hop, and Latin stars.
The album confirmed George’s status as a highly capable singer-songwriter of major ability and one with great emotional depth. The album and the songs cemented Michael in “superstar” status, dominating the radio, and selling out countless concert dates in arenas, worldwide. After hitting #1 in the UK, the USA and many other countries Faith went on to sell over 20 million albums around globally. It became the best selling US album of 1988 and was awarded the prestigious Diamond Award for sales of 10 million copies.
Faith, record-breaking phenomenon, not only produced, count them, six Number One singles in the US but also placed George Michael on the map as the first white male artist to hit Number One on the US R&B chart. Faith features some of George’s greatest songs including “Father Figure”, “One More Try”, “Faith”, “Kissing A Fool” and “I Want Your Sex”.
