This week Facebook hit a new high: 500 Million users worldwide as announced by the Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg. It’ is the latest milestone by the fastest growing company in the world. To celebrate, every single employee of Facebook was asked to take a picture of themselves “thanking” the users that have gotten them this far. You can check out that album by clicking here.
In a blog post, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, 26, wrote, “I could have never imagined all of the ways people would use Facebook when we were getting started 6 years ago. I want to thank you for being part of making Facebook what it is today.”
In addition to celebrating this achievement, the social networking giant is coming up with a new feature called Facebook stories. The new feature lets users share a story about Facebook ‘s presence and impact in their lives.
Zuckerberg began Facebook as a student at Harvard University. He wanted to put the social experience of college life on line by creating a living yearbook. The site quickly made access available up to other Boston area colleges within a few months of its launch in Feb. 2004. Later, it allowed all college students to sign up with a valid college e-mail. And in 2 years, Facebook allowed anyone to join with a valid e-mail account.
Congratulations Facebook!
