Emma Thompson taking time off to deal with depression!?

On the exterior, Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson was all smiles and quite excited over receiving a star on the Walk of Fame on Friday August 6 in Hollywood, CA. But this cinema superstar is now preparing to deal with her inner person.  She revealed wanting to take time off after working for so many years.  “I find the job I do emotionally very demanding,” the British actress told The Hollywood Reporter – referring to her job as an entertainer. “I suffer from occasional mild depression, which I think is a very common thing — it’s fantastically common in my country and probably in yours, too — and it’s a very much hidden thing people don’t talk about. I think it should be discussed.”

As fellow actors Hugh Laurie and Maggie Gyllenhaal arrived at the ceremony to present the walk of fame star to Thompson, no one would believe that the cheerful, energetic actress would make such a dramatic statement moments later.

“Next year, I’m going to take a sabbatical,” Thompson revealed.

She added: “I’m not going to fundraise or perform or travel, except in pursuit of new vistas with my family. I’ve been meaning to do this for a long, long time, but it’s been like putting the brakes on a large ship because there is so much going on.”

At BNH, we are all for everyone feeling their best and achieving greatness, inside and out, and when the time comes, we will always welcome Emma Thompson back into the Hollywood spotlight, with enthusiasm.
