According to an AP report, Daniel Craig has signed on to play journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the English language remake of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” Today, Sony Pictures confirmed Craig’s participation in the movie to be directed by David Fincher (Zodiac, Fight Club).
The thriller is based on the first book in a series of best-selling novels penned by late Swedish author Stieg Larsson. The story brings Blomkvist’s character (Craig) together with the deeply troubled but genius, Lisbeth Salander, the main character in the books, who is still suffering from a terrible childhood. As the two go deep into the mystery of a missing girl they find themselves discovering clues to crimes committed decades earlier.
No word on who will portray the Lisbeth just yet. The film is due in theaters next year.
