Conan O’Brien has inked a deal with TBS and will be premiering his new talk show on the cable network come November. The short lived “Tonight Show” host will take the 11 PM time slot which bumps George Lopez to midnight. Lopez is all smiles about Conan and his midnight move. George refers to O’Brien as his “lead-in” and says “it’s the beginning of a new era in late night.” Conan was originally offered the midnight slot on NBC but turned it down. Apparently Lopez doesn’t seem to mind that period on TBS. As for the red head’s move from network television to cable, it may look like a downgrade to some but I think Conan will come out on top. TBS is geared toward comedy and should be a much easier group to deal with than the folks over at the Peacock network. Lopez has been successful in getting quality celebrities on the show and Conan will be even more so. I mean if George got Jennifer Love Hewitt to talk about “vajazzling” her va-jay-jay, then Hollywood is Conan’s oyster (or shall we say clam) when it comes to stories over which NBC may get its feathers ruffled. I say – smart move Cone! You’re going to have some fun and so are we.
