Actor Colin Firth openly admits to being a bit superficial when it came to taking on his role in the Tom Ford directed “A Single Man.” Colin was first flattered that Ford wanted him for the lead character and was then excited at being in a project where every piece of clothing, every camera angle and every flicker of light was controlled by the former Gucci creative director. Firth couldn’t care less that Tom hadn’t directed before. The “Mama Mia” alum says he when he read the script all he could think was what a great, big style fest he was walking into. He thought he would be lit well and will maybe, for the last time in his life, look super sexy and be dressed or undressed to kill in every shot. In the end, he found the experience to be much more than that and that he actually had to do some real acting which was indeed recognized by the academy with his Best Actor nod. – C. Reeves
