Chace too walks away from “Footloose”

Chace Crawford was going to cut “Footloose” with the lead role in the remake of the 1984 film about the town that outlawed dancing starring Kevin Bacon. Now Chace is cutting out of the remake altogether. The reason the “Gossip Girl” co-star is dancing away from the project is reportedly schedule conflicts. I am not so sure.

Kevin Bacon in “Footloose” (1984)

The role was originally   offered to Zac Efron and he too turned it down.  Zac is already a big screen star and always makes for an interesting read in the tabloids.  As for Chace, this could have been his launch pad to stardom so I am thinking it must have been more than a schedule conflict issue.  Kenny Ortega who directed “High School Musical” also left the production.

Country singer Julianne Hough, who gained popularity on “Dancing with the Stars” is the only one hanging on thus far.  The show must go on and the hunt is on for a youthful Kevin Bacon type to fill the dancing shoes that can’t seem to stay filled. Julianne hinted around that she doesn’t need a pretty boy and would like someone who is a little rough and tough.  Translation – Zac and Chace are prettier than her so bring in someone like….Mickey Rourke?  Julianne would win in the looks department – hands down.  Yee haw!  – Charlie Reeves
