It looks like Peter Max has found his inspiration in Taylor Swift. Recently, the artist applied his arty ways at Taylor’s Speak Now album cover, with a burst of rainbow-like clouds in the background and Taylor’s red dress, and long blonde hair punching in the foreground. Max reinterpreted a similar piece on Taylor’s Fearless album cover earlier this year. In the past the artworks were given to Taylor as gifts but this time they will be available to the public. “I’ve been doing portraits of iconic musicians for so many years, and it is a pleasure to add Taylor Swift to the collection,” expressed the artist known as “mad” Max in a statement about his portrait of singer. “She is one of the most beautiful and talented stars we have today.”’
It turns out that Taylor is also a fan of Max too. Afterall, Max has painted for 6 presidents and is a cultural icon and a national treasure – Taylor’s got good taste.
A press release on her behalf stated: “Taylor was thrilled when she learned of Max’s interest in doing the portrait, as she is a lifelong fan of his, having often seen his work on display in the Ocean Gallery in Stone Harbor, New Jersey,” it read. “Swift remembered walking past the gallery window many times as a child and young teen, and was often stopped in her tracks by the vibrancy of Max’s works.”
Remember what Taylor’s mere mention of the band Gloriana did for their career? It’s good to be loved by Taylor Swift.
