There has not been much news developing about the so-called Cleopatra movie, While James Cameron may no longer be a part of the project, Angelina Jolie is still psyched about portraying the complex Egyptian ruler.
MTV News has the latest word from the famous lips of Angelina Jolie. “I hope to one day [play her], but we don’t have it all together,” she told MTV News at the premiere of “The Tourist” in New York. “All the pieces are not together.” The actress repeated.
It’s not together, and Cameron is not doing it. Any other signs indicating a sketchy start for a movie? Oh yeah! It’s been rumored that Brad Pitt may play the role of Mark Anthony. This is already starting to sound like the original disaster; “Cleopatra” (1963), which starred Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton; in one of the biggest box office failures of all time.
Earlier Cameron who was excited about the project was quoted saying: “it’s a subject that’s always fascinated me. So yeah, I’ve been talking to them [Sony, and screenwriter Brian Helgeland] about it but no decisions have been made. But it sounds hot, doesn’t it? I mean, Angelina Jolie and Cleopatra? To me, that’s like a slam dunk. Whether I wind up doing it or not, I think it’s going to be a great project.”
Well, Cameron is not doing the project, and neither should Angie…, nor Brad.
Portraying historical figures is (shall we say) not Angie’s forte. Remember “Alexander” (2004)?
By insisting Angie and Brad to say “no”, another movie that was “not (so) together” comes to mind: “Mr. And Mrs. Smith” (2005).
There, free advice! Time to for me to shut up.
