A BNH recap of the 2009 American Music Awards, Nov. 22 at Nokia Theatre, in downtown L.A. – another AMA out of the way. Paula spoke and for once someone had the sense to leave her microphone on off. With an energized “best of” performance, Janet reminded all who the remaining famous Jackson is and why. A promissing “boxing” themed number by J-LO got K.O.’d cold when she fell down on her famous booty (and bounced off to continue the show)…, and we still loved her for it. The unstoppable Taylor Swift accepted her award far away from Kanye West. Adam Lambert, in his sexually charged performance, hinted on what tickles his pickle. Keith Urban chanelled some bubble gum jingle not even the Jonas Bros would touch. Shakira “spoke” her new song (that’s not singing) and we still didn’t understand a word she said. Whitney received a made-up award for well, being sober!!? A very dapper Jay-Z praised himself over Alicia Keys chanting New York (what in the ba’janga was that??). An electrifying Rihanna shot laser beams out of her shoulders…, and Lady GaGa broke bottles on an old piano. Now that’s AMERICAN MUSIC for you…, and we want more!!!
