A ‘Sundance’ sense of style

The ever-growing status of the Sundance Film Festival has been a big destination for everything film, and the people who make them. This yearly pilgrimage is where filmmakers, and film lovers come together to present tomorrow’s cinema while getting a feel for the independent voices that may otherwise not get to be heard or seen.

The Sundance Film Festival takes place annually in Park City, Utah. It is still the largest independent cinema festival in the United States, depending what you call, wink-wink, “independent” nowadays. The film fest is held each January in Park City, Salt Lake City and Ogden, as well as at the Sundance Resort.

The event showcases new work from American and international Independent filmmakers, screening dramatic and documentary films, both feature-length and short films, plus a row of non-competitive showcase sections.

But with the presence of movies, there is always the necessary presence of major stars who were in town promoting their projects, while showcasing their fashion sense. Here is BNH’s not-so-seriously-fashionable fashion remarks.

James Franco steps out, and looking a tad tired after a big night of partying, where he put on a blonde wig and mended the DJ booth. But the “127 Hours” actor was all smiles and sharp during interviews as he did the rounds at Sundance. Wearing a blue winter beanie and a brown sheepskin coat, he stopped to be pictured by a fan before heading off to promote his documentary “Three’s Company: The Drama”.

Thomas Jane wore…, well, THAT! A  mohawked Union Jack  beanie-hat-whatever, while he finally found a quiet corner to smoke a cigar – that’s after he gave the finger to photographers. He is such a rebel, you know? The ‘Hung’ actor (and he rocks that HBO  show) was at the Sundance Film Festival promoting his new film, ‘I Melt With You’ which also stars Carla Gugino and Rob Lowe.

Elizabeth Banks definitely stood out in her bright red coat with that fluffy collar thing and wayfarers, promoting her new film ‘My Idiot Brother’ (costarring Paul Rudd, and Hugh Dancy).

Melanie Lynskey, who plays Rose on Two and a Half Men, looking incredibly cute as she seems to be getting some last minute “jooj” from her hair and make-up crew.

Channing Tatum takes a call while sporting a stylish tweed flat cap and a trendy striped winter jacket in Park City, Utah. Promoting his movie ‘Son of No One’ the model, turned actor has a very sharp fashion sense. Watch for Channing in this month’s “The Eagle,” co-starring Jamie Bell and Tahar Rahim.

Susan Sarandon looks pretty well put together. But that yellow tote bag, is in-our-face. It’s saying: “look at me, I’m so yellow, and so big.” The newly single actress (and she insists she is single, despite the rumors of her dating her Spin Ping-Pong club partner Jonathan Bricklin) is wearing a stylish yet sophisticated winter hat, a Burberry scarf, black-rimmed glasses and a ski coat.
