On Friday night, America’s latest music sensation Greyson Chance, the young pianist and singer who broke thru all the web clutter with the magic of YouTube, was on deck in New York city, as a part of NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly.
This year, Carson, who was quite at home with his expanded hosting duties on NBC, welcomed the biggest names in music. From Lil Wayne, to Nicki Minaj and rock band My Chemical Romance, plus a visit by U2’s The Edge talking about the score and lyrics he wrote for the now troubled Broadway musical “Spiderman: Turn off the dark.”
But the real highlight was Chance Greyson who performed Lady Gaga’s hit Paparazzi, the song featured on his YouTube clips that ultimately led to a recording deal on Ellen DeGenrese’s own new music label. Chance possessed the same charming elements, in addition to the true talent, America originally saw and fell in love with, yet this time it was a very live experience, broadcasting to a worldwide TV audience, and nearly one million spectators on hand.
On his way to the festivities in NYC, Greyson twitted that he was listening to music by Radiohead. Does this kid know his music, or what?
