Whitney Houston’s been getting a batch of bad press as of late due to some shows that have been bombing on her European tour and she wants it to end. Respiratory problems are being cited as the reason fans are upset over mediocre performances and want refunds but of course many are speculating the crackin’ notes are a result of a crack-pipe habit that just won’t quit. In any case, Whitney is so determined to show she can do it that she won’t even let natural disaster keep her away from performing in Dublin. Due to the Iceland volcano eruptions, flights have been grounded across the UK so Whitney decided to hit the sea. The singer and her crew boarded the Nordica superferry and are keeping their fingers crossed for a sold out, knock-em-dead show Saturday in the Irish capital. Whitney made it to Dublin and even serenaded some guests at her hotel. Word is she sounded great and the fans had a grand time. The true test comes when Whit tries to spin recent media comments including “horrendous” and “appalling” into completely different tunes. Doctors are advising her not to sing until she has recovered. It doesn’t seem she is ready for the weekend but Houston is keeping her fingers crossed and (ready for a cheesy pun?) “waiting to exhale.” – Charlie Reeves
